Rajasthan Police found a thirty-year-old woman, almost 12 years after she was sold in lieu of money. As per the complaint filed by the victim's relatives, the female was sold to an agent after her family members failed to repay heavy debts.

In the case at hand, the complainant has said that her family was in debt and her father-in-law was unable to repay it. She alleged that brokers started to approach her in-laws and offered money in lieu of the girl. She further alleged that one day the broker came and offered the father-in-law to sell her sister-in-law on a contract for ten years.

“After that, my sister-in-law who was eight years old at the time and another, who was seven years old, were sold on contract to brokers in lieu of Rs 3.5 lakhs. 12 years have passed since that, and they have not come. The brokers did not even return the sisters. We contacted the brokers many times but they abused us,” one of the complainants said.

Deputy superintendent of police Kirti Singh, investigating officer of the case and who is also Mandalgarh's circle officer told India Today, “We have recovered one of the victims in this case. Her statements have been recorded. She is around 30 years old. We are investigating the allegations levelled in this case.”

Meanwhile, another human trafficking case appeared in the case. The woman said that her husband was an alcoholic and he had borrowed a huge sum of money from some brokers. As per the woman, the brokers then visited her house on a daily basis, seeking repayment of the loan with high interest, and also disturbed the peace of the house.

“One day, in a drunken state, the brokers asked to make a deal for the innocent daughter if the money was not paid. The husband sold the daughter to the brokers. I have not seen my daughter for 10 years. I have folded my hands in front of brokers many times. They are demanding Rs 15 lakh in exchange for their daughter. There is no bread to eat in my house. How can I give 15 lakhs to rescue my daughter?” she said.

Mandalgarh Police named four accused in the two independent cases. The accused were identified as Mukesh, Gayatri, wife of  Mukesh; both are residents of Palanpur village of Sawai Madhopur and  Mandalgarh residents Sarina, wife of Gopal and Kamala, wife of  Roopa.
