and Slave- Alliance CEO Tim Nelson told an audience of supply chain leaders and managers about the hidden realities of modern slavery and forced labour exploitation.

Speaking at the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo™ 2022 conference in London, held from 27-29 September, Tim Nelson explained the major blind spots in supply chains around modern slavery, outlined recent and upcoming global legislation that companies need to be aware of, and discussed the ways in Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance are helping businesses to build resilience and protect themselves.

The sold-out conference was attended by CSCOs and heads of supply chain, heads of supply chain planning, heads of sourcing and procurement, heads of manufacturing, and heads of logistics and distribution, all of whom can play a role in keeping their operations and supply chains protected against modern slavery and forced labour exploitation.

Gartner is one of the world's leading consultancy and research companies, with more than 16,000 staff across the world and revenues of $4.7 billion. Its and symposiums attract senior decision makers from multinational businesses.

Tim Nelson said: “We want to thank Gartner for once again providing Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance this incredible platform to openly engage with so many businesses and to respond to the reality of forced labour in supply chains. We were able to provide insights to uncover major blind spots and were extremely pleased to see industry leaders commit to making an impact in the near future.”

He was a keynote speaker on the topic of ‘Supply Chain Visibility and How to Manage the Threat of Exploitation', because human trafficking causes significant exposure to reputational and compliance risks, and many organisations are unaware that they can be unknowingly contributing to this sort of exploitation through their suppliers.

Tim Nelson also joined a roundtable panel that posed this question to attendees: ‘Are You Doing Enough to Tackle the Threat of Exploitation in Your Supply Chains?' At this session, participants explored key challenges and best practices to be prepared for the tsunami of regulation and legislation that has recently been passed or announced.

The roundtable was facilitated by Koray Köse, a Senior Director Analyst in Gartner's Supply Chain Operations team who has frequently shared his admiration for the work done by Slave-Free Alliance and Hope for Justice.

We are delighted that Koray Köse will speak at our upcoming Slave-Free Alliance webinar on Tuesday, 25 October 2022, on the topic of Supply Chain Visibility & Management. Register now! Koray will cover: risk management and mitigation; where to start; what to prioritize; when to expect results and when to set alignment with stakeholders; and insights on how to measure risk.
