Rethreaded Hosts Human Trafficking Panel: Education is the Beginning to the End of Human Trafficking

In partnership with First Lady Molly Curry's Educational Art Legacy Project, Rethreaded is hosting a Human Trafficking Panel entitled “Education is the Beginning to the End of Human Trafficking.”

The virtual and in-person event will take place on September 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. , Eastern Standard Time and/or at Rethreaded, 515 E 9th Street, Jacksonville.

In a recent press release, Rethreaded noted that according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, Florida ranks third in the United States for reported human trafficking cases. The organization underscored the importance of educating business owners and community leaders on how someone becomes a part of that life and how to leave that life and begin anew. the

The panel will gather community leaders and industry experts to address these issues and provide “actionable steps” for creating change.

This panel event will also discuss the 100% Club initiative, a training initiative that addresses how to identify and report human trafficking created by Attorney General Ashley Moody in partnership with the Florida Alliance to End Human Trafficking.

Rethreaded's founder and CEO Kristin Keen created this safe space organization by forming relationships with those lured into the world of human trafficking. By regularly visiting the streets and prisons, she learned that these women needed a safe and supportive work environment where they could earn money in order to heal.

Working in partnership with the City Rescue Mission of Jacksonville, Rethreaded hired its first full-time employee in November 2012 to do just that.
