Dr. David Deeds and Billy Joe Cain dedicated their lives to ending human trafficking through and education. In 2020, they joined forces to start PBJ Learning, a leader in online human trafficking education, and have not slowed down throughout the pandemic.

“Trafficking hasn't taken a break, and neither have we,” says Deeds. “We are constantly looking for ways to reach people and we're not afraid to take chances.”

In August of 2021, their first , Human Trafficking Essentials, was released and has since been used in university-level criminal justice classes and for job training in international professional organizations.

“We're proud of our online course,” says Cain, “It combines over a decade of Dr. Deeds' educational experience with my gamification background to create a one-of-a-kind learning tool, accessible through any web browser.”

They have reached a series of unique milestones in the human trafficking education movement:

  • 2016. Radical Empathy was founded, based upon the idea that “gamified” education using virtual reality can end trafficking.
  • 2017. Cain traveled across America, learning the field, making connections, and writing the script for Radical Empathy's 2018 product.
  • 2018. TRAPPED: A VR Detective Story. This award-winning, virtual reality application takes fifteen minutes to teach people that anyone could become a victim through and coercion. This in-person experience impacts people at public events, charity events, and at schools.
  • 2019. University of North Texas Health Science Center licenses TRAPPED for their medical students, adding to the public middle and high schools (and non-profits) using it to educate people.
  • 2020. David created his Human Trafficking Hater YouTube channel, earning almost 100,000 views.
  • 2020. PBJ Learning was founded to provide scalable, measurable, online education to a broader audience than in-person training.
  • 2021 August. PBJ Learning released Human Trafficking Essentials, an online course that teaches the core learning objectives, or the “101” of trafficking, in a better format and with better results than any other course on the market.
  • 2022 Q2. David created a TikTok channel and has 1,100 followers. Total views exceed 330k to date.
  • 2022 June. Radical Empathy educated its 4500th student at the Light the Way Summit in Dallas, Texas.
  • 2022 July. PBJ Learning released its 1000th online article through its Knowledge Vault.

Celebrate these milestones by donating to Radical Empathy. PBJ Learning provides a free course to deserving students for every $5 donation. http://www.reefcares.org/donate
