Fresh Start Healing Heart and Two Blokes Brewing to host Pint Night | Community News

Fresh Start Healing and Two Blokes Brewing of Mount Pleasant are partnering to host a Pint Night event to fight human trafficking locally. Pint Night will be held on June 23 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Two Blokes Brewing at 547 Long Point Rd.

The brewery will be helping the non-profit organization raise money towards the $2,500 it will take to put on an “I STAND” conference. A portion of the sales on pints will go towards building this fund.

The “I STAND” conference is geared towards middle and high school ages to educate on what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like. The goal is to foster a healthier, safer community while preventing youth domestic violence, and human trafficking.

Since survivors mostly do not self-identify, Fresh Start Healing will be bringing community education for and prevention to the area as well as surrounding communities at the organization's satellite office in North Charleston.

Human trafficking is defined as the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, , or slavery. (22 U.S.C. § 7102(9)).

“Human trafficking here in South Carolina is also considered anyone under the age of 18 involved in commercial sex. Unfortunately human trafficking can be found anywhere and does not discriminate by age, race, economic back ground, nor religion. We must educate, provide help and band together for a safer community for all. We are grateful for the support we have already received in the area through our ambassador Kayla and the Two Blokes Brewing. We look forward to working with many more community members of Mount Pleasant,” said Executive Director and Founder of Fresh Start Healing Heart, Sheila Roemeling.

Fresh Start Healing Heart is a non-profit organization who walks beside survivors of human trafficking during their healing processes. They provide host family housing, basic needs, mentors, counseling and wraparound services through collaborating partnerships to allow survivors to focus on their healing and everything they need for a fresh start. Fresh Start Healing Heart has been working with survivors since 2015 in South Carolina with a focus on the Lowcountry.
