International Game Developers Association Membership ups their game
PBJ Learning, a leading provider of online human trafficking awareness and prevention education courses for professionals and schools, and the International Game Developers Association, announce that the membership of IGDA can now receive a significant discount on Human Trafficking Essentials as part of their benefits package.
“PBJ Learning is proud to announce our new partnership with the International Game Developers Association,” says Billy Joe Cain, co-founder of PBJ Learning. “IGDA members, including employees of the biggest companies in the world, from Activision (the makers of World of Warcraft) to Epic Games (the makers of Fortnite) can now learn about human trafficking through the easiest to access interactive online course on trafficking in the world.”
Education Director, Dr. David Deeds, adds “We believe this is a perfect partnership due to the large number of Project Management Professionals (PMPs) that work within the video game industry, and how important it is to understand how chat features within games can lead to grooming.”
Human Trafficking Essentials has an extensive section on grooming that focuses on how parents can better understand what might be happening to their children when they are unsupervised.
“This is exactly the kind of thing that parents need to understand, and having the game developers, themselves, see how they can be part of the solution is critical to online safety,” concludes Dr. Deeds.

Building relationships with professional organizations
“We look forward to a long relationship with the IGDA,” says Cain. “As a game developer for over three decades, it's fantastic to be able to offer this opportunity to the worldwide community of game developers.”
Billy Joe served as the vice-chairman of the Austin International Game Developers Association for years. While vice-chairman, he organized dozens of community events and helped build the video game certificate program at Austin Community College.
“Professional development is critical to staying on top of the emerging issues in interactive gaming. This is why I'm excited to offer training to help identify online grooming, because that keeps children and families safe,” states Cain.
